Ferrari 599XX, 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE Launching In Geneva

Ferrari will debut two new cars at this year's Geneva Motor Show: a super-handling 599 GTB FIorano called the HGTE and a Ferrari FXX-like 599 in F2008 colors referred to as the Ferrari 599XX.

We're told to expect the Handling GT Evoluzione (HGTE) package to include newly designed 20-inch wheels wrapped in more aggressive rubber, stiffer springs, thicker antiroll bars, a retuned exhaust system and a new front grille. Expect the optional handling package to tack an additional $25,000 onto the 599's price tag.

The 599XX is Ferrari's rolling tester for the latest technological developments from the company's road-going and Formula One work. Although specifics haven't been revealed, Ferrari claims many of the systems implemented for the 599XX are being used for the first time and have been exclusively developed for the model.

We're extremely pleased by the announcement of the 599XX program, which seems like the GTB version of the Ferrari FXX. Everything Ferrari is saying about the F99XX is similar to what they said about the FXX and we can only hope this means they'll sell a limited number of track-only 599XX supercars to the super rich for the rest of us to gawk at.

Geneva International Motor Show provides the venue for Ferrari to announce two new pieces of good news: the arrival of the sporty, dynamic Handling GT Evoluzione (HGTE) Package for the 599 GTB Fiorano and the world debut of the 599XX which is a technological laboratory aimed at a select group of clients. The latter new car incorporates the most advanced technologies resulting from Ferrari's road-going and F1 research. Many of the technological solutions it carries are being used for the first time and have been developed exclusively for this special car.

In addition to the 599 GTB Fiorano equipped with the Handling GTE package and
finished in a new three-layer metallic Rosso, and the 599XX in a colour matching the
F2008, Ferrari clients and enthusiasts will also be able to admire this single-seater that
recently won the Prancing Horse its 16th Constructors' World title. On the stand there
will also be the full range of Ferrari road cars: the Scuderia Spider 16M in a Grigio
Titanio livery, the 430 Scuderia in Rosso Corsa and two Grand Tourer models, the
Ferrari California in Nero Metallizzato with a Sabbia interior and the flagship 612
Scaglietti. The latter will be displayed in the Atelier, a dedicated area where owners can
get a taste of the virtually endless personalisation options on offer to them.

599GTB Fiorano HGTE

A new package for the 599GTB Fiorano, called Handling GT Evoluzione (HGTE), aims to up the car’s handling prowess. Judging from the image seen here, the package includes new wheels and a unique grille—with one less horizontal and vertical bar—all the better to show off the prancing horse. We’re unaware of any changes to the car’s V-12 powerplant, but not to worry; it’s a Ferrari, and everyone knows it’s fast.

2010 Ferrari F450 - Spied

It’s rare to glimpse a new Ferrari before its official debut, but even missing a few pieces, this latest prancing horse is looking good.

Some manufacturers play spy shooters like fiddles (Chevy comes to mind, with its Camaro striptease). But Ferraris are tough to find, even for the best. But we’ll take what we can get when it comes to prancing horses, so thank you, Brenda, for nabbing this prototype of the upcoming Ferrari F430 replacement (likely dubbed F450, but F500 could be a possibility), even if it’s missing a few pieces.

Seen here as a coupe, this newest Ferrari looks promising, with sleek, windswept bodysides and a Lotus Evora–like tapering greenhouse, imparting a look that resembles the back half of an Enzo merged with the front of an F430, only with more elegance than both. What we can’t see are the fascias, which we hope will be more attractive than those of the new, bubble-butted Ferrari California and with more sensuous curvature than even the F430. The rear lights shoot off the deck even higher than before, and the vertical headlamps are longer and sexier than ever. In any case, it is pretty clear that Ferrari’s newest bread-butterer will take on a very exotic, more low-slung posture than even the F430, making us salivate at the prospect of tossing it around a track.

Scuderia Ferrari unveils the new F60

new Scuderia Ferrari F60 Most years it's more of the same. All the constructors in the FIA Formula One World Championship unveil their cars, and for the most part they look the incredibly similar to the ones they had last year. Big whoop. But every so often, the technical regulations are shaken up a little and the cars come out looking entirely different. This is one of those years -- say "hello" to the Scuderia Ferrari F60. The most substantial changes have been made to the aerodynamic formula, which has dictated a bigger front wing and a much narrower rear aerofoila. F1 has also moved back to slick tires, while underneath the more streamlined bodywork Ferrari has fitted the new Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) developed together with Magneti-Marelli, along with the new carbon-encased seven-speed sequential gearbox with limited slip differential. Ferrari has opted to call this the F60, eschewing the typical numbering system that would have labeled it the F2009 while highlighting the fact that this will be the 60th season of Formula One - in which Ferrari is the only team to have competed in each and every one. Due to weather conditions, the official live unveiling of the F60 was moved from the company's on-site Fiorano test track to its Mugello circuit, where Felipe Massa will test drive it for the first time. Ferrari and Peugeot to collaborate on KERS?

Put a Ferrari and a Peugeot side-by-side and you'll struggle to find any similarities, but on the race track, the two share more in common than you might think. Before masterminding Ferrari's rejuvenation, former CEO Jean Todt was head of Peugeot's competition department, and brought with him some of PSA's top racing engineers. Peugeot's renewed Le Mans racing operation employs several F1 drivers, including Ferrari's own test pilot Marc Gene. Now reports are suggesting that the two outfits, both seeking top honors in their respective motorsport disciplines, may be cooperating on the joint development of their Kinetic Energy Recovery System. KERS is nearing implementation in Formula One, and several teams are pursuing external expertise to get their systems ready. But joining with Peugeot would allow Ferrari, whose system is being developed with its technical partner and sister company Magneti-Marelli, to circumvent the tight restrictions on development and testing, restrictions which are only getting tighter each year. Peugeot, meanwhile, is preparing to implement a similar system on the Le Mans circuit in its new 908 HY prototype, which it hopes will edge out Audi at both the finish line and the green front. 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M - Car News

Ferrari has unveiled the convertible version of its lightweight and track-ready 430 Scuderia. The new roadster will get "16M" added to its name in honor of Ferrari's 16th Formula One Constructors' Championship. Ferrari will build 499 Scuderia Spider 16Ms at a price that is expected to start at more than $320,000. The new ragtop Scuderia is reportedly 170 pounds lighter than the standard F430 Spider, which weighed 3640 pounds according to our scales. It features a customized iPod Touch to control the audio system and gets a snazzy carbon-fiber shell for the roll hoops. Power will come from the 430 Scuderia's 503-hp, 4.3-liter V-8.
